How Sharcam Works

How Sharcam Works

Sharing photos and videos from any trip or traveling adventure was never easier. To understand the app, please read the following instructions:

1. Create an event

Anyone can create an event. By “EVENT,” we mean either the expedition of more travelers, solo traveling one or two persons, or even a resort holidays with your friends. (In wider extend an event can be a party, wedding, sports occasion, exhibition etc…)

Event is a media container where any participant will add his/her photos or videos, all event participants will see those files and can download them.

To create an event, you must either install a mobile app or create an event on your desktop computer.

2. Public or private event

The event can be either public or private. The public event can be any exhibition, sport event, competition, or any other happening open to the public. Anyone can join the public event and upload/download the photos.

A private event is created for a special purpose, and only invited members can see and share the content. Event participants could be invited by the special link,  by their email ID or they can get a special code allowing them to join.

If an event is private, an event administrator can allow sharing some photos publicly. If this option is allowed, any event member can mark some of their photos as public. (For example, if you take people´s photos, they can be private, but nature or architecture photos can be public.) Public photos can be commented on by the public, but nobody outside the event group can download them.

3. Uploading photos to Event

Event members using a smartphone can take the photo directly inside the app or can upload any photo from the gallery later. All the photos are cashed and will be uploaded to the gallery only if there is a good Internet connection.

Digital camera users can upload their photos from any desktop computer using a web browser. Desktop users can upload their photos and videos as bulk and do not need to upload the files one-by-one.

4. Description and Tag

Each media file will have a Description and tags. The event administrator will set the default description and tag, but any user can change the description and add his/her own tags. Tags are used for the better searching of media.

5. Commenting and liking

Any event participant can comment on each photo/video and like/dislike it. If the event is public, or photo in private evening is public, any registered user can comment and like the photos and videos.

6. Preparing presentations

It may happen that any event participant will need to show the multimedia files to other person. To avoid presenting hundreds of photos, we created a presentation option. Each photo, which user liked, will become part of the presentation. It generally means that the presenter will only show the best camera shots he likes.

7. Geolocation

Each photo, which has geolocation information, will be placed on the map. It is also possible to upload a trip tracker, which will locate even the photos without location information based on the time of the shot.

8. Download of media

The event administrator must set the media resolution for download. There are three options for photos: Full HD photo, 4k photos (about 8Mpix), and original resolution. Video has 2 options of the resolution, 720p video and Full HD video. There is also the restriction on the maximum duration of the video – 30 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, 5 minutes and 10 minutes.

The download of media is only possible from the desktop.

Users can download the media any time during the event. There will be a grace period for seven days after the event termination. During this period, the users will be able to download the media but not add or comment on them.

9. Corporate account

Any mass user can create a Corporate account. Corporate account is set to a certain size of storage space (obviously 1TB, 5TB, 10 TB), but is not limited to the number of events or participants.

10. Payment and Pricing

The basic event is free of charge. The basic event can have up to 10 participants and will last up to 14 days. Any other individual event (with more participants or lasting longer) will be charged. The event administrator is responsible for the payment.
